Singer, Vusi Nova has cancelled all his shows until next month due to anxiety.
This is after he was admitted to Milpark Hospital in Joburg on Friday. The Asiphelelanga hitmaker posted a picture of himself lying on a hospital bed.
He told fans he had a panic attack. “I was sitting at home having lunch and thinking about everything I had to do. All of a sudden I couldn’t breathe. I was rushed to hospital. I thought I was having a stroke. The doctor did all the tests, but found that I was okay. It was just a panic attack,” he said.
Vusi told Daily Sun he kept telling his team that he suffered from anxiety, but no one took him seriously until he was admitted to hospital. Vusi said he has cancelled every show he was booked for to take some time off as he never got a chance to rest.
“I have been working since last year and never had time to rest. Coming back from hospital, I saw that it was necessary for me to pace myself and have some time to myself,” he said.
Vusi said black people didn’t take depression and anxiety seriously – this after he posted a picture of himself on social media with a drip with the caption about being hospitalized as a result of anxiety and a tweep say to him “black people don’t suffer from anxiety, however the singer put the misinformed tweep quickly in to their place.
“I feel like black people don’t take such issues seriously and they are damaging because the doctor even suggested I see a psychologist.”
