The world gives a thundering ovation for Miss World 2016!

Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico was announced as the new Miss World 2016 on Sunday, outrunning beauty contesters from around the globe including the Dominican Republic and Indonesia.

Del Valle, 19, is a brown-eyed brunette student who speaks Spanish, English and French, who dreams of getting into the entertainment industry.

Crowned by Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna of Spain, del Valle found it as an "honour and a great responsibility" to represent her Caribbean homeland.

With competitors like Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic and Miss World Indonesia Natasha Mannuela, Stephanie’s road to her crown looked quite bumpy and competitive.

Miss South Africa, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, did not make the list of top 20 finalists. The top 20 were China, Kenya, Belgium, Ghana, Philippines, Cook Islands, Mongolia, Indonesia, France, USA, India, Slovakia, Korea, Hungary, Dominican Republic, Japan, Brazil, Thailand, Australia and Puerto Rico.

Canada's Miss World representative, Chinese-born Anastasia Lin found herself in hot waters when pageant officials reportedly warned her against speaking to the press for three weeks about human rights abuses in China. Although she was given the green light again on Wednesday, China blocked Lin last year from attending the same contest when it was held in the city of Sanya.

Congratulations to Stephanie on making it as Miss World 2016, we at Entertainment_SA wish her all the best on the bright future ahead of her.
