Babes Wodumo was disappointed to come back empty-handed from this year’s South African Music Awards, however, thanks to Kaslam Events, all her disappointments are about to turn into happiness.
Kaslam Events has decided to organise an event to honour the Wololo singer.
The event, We Love West Ink, will be held at the Artizen Restaurant and Lounge in KwaMashu, north of Durban.
According to the organisers, the event was initially meant to celebrate her Sama victory, however, fate came in the way.
Nhlanhla Ngwenya, one of the organisers, said Babes is a talented young star who deserves respect and recognition.
He said after she expressed her anger on a video which went viral on social media, they decided to change the theme of the event.
“We felt her pain and disappointment. We wanted to do something to comfort her and show her love,” said Nhlanhla.
He said all artists signed under West Ink, including Madanon, Distruction Boyz, DJ Boonu and Mampintsha will perform at the event. DJ Bongz, Sox, Zakwe and other musicians are also expected.
Melody Mhlongo, West Ink spokeswoman, said Babes needed support after her disappointment at the Samas.
“We are grateful for the support we get here in KZN.
“As West Ink, we needed this and we are very happy about the event meant to comfort Babes.”
Babes is flying to the US next Thursday for the BET awards to be held on 25 June.
She was given a nod under the Best International Act for Africa.
