South African legendary footballer, Neil Tovey suffers heart attack!

One thing we have realized about this cold celestial planet earth is that, people who live a legendary life that leaves a legacy in it, suffer a series of health problems, if not a short lifespan.

Speaking of legends, South Africa’s very own Neil Tovey, the only white footballer to captain an Africa Cup of Nations-winning team, has reportedly suffered a heart attack in Durban on Sunday.

“Neil suffered a heart attack while training and was rushed to hospital,” former professional footballer Mark Tovey told reporters.

“We are waiting for a report from the doctor and the next few hours are going to be critical,” his brother added.

Tovey is the same legend who led South Africa to a 2-0 victory over Tunisia in the 1996 Cup of Nations final in front of an 80,000 fully-seated crowd in Soweto that included then state president Nelson Mandela.

Tovey got sacked from the squad after the 1998 World Cup qualifying defeat in Congo Brazzaville, from then, he never regained his place.

This resulted in him taking most of his club career to Kaizer Chiefs, one of the most successful and popular football teams in the republic.

Now 54, Tovey has been giving back to the community by developing young and raw talent from the streets.

We at entertainmentsa wish Tovey a speedy recovery, Mzansi still needs you!
