Although we are still distraught over the sudden death of veteran actor, Joe Mafela, we are relieved that he was given a final departure/funeral fit for a king!
The veteran actor was laid to rest on Wednesday, during an emotional funeral service that took place at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus.
Mafela was buried at Westpark Cemetery.
He died in a car accident last weekend.
The comedian was well known for his roles in local sitcoms Sgudi ‘Snaysi, Going Up and Madam and Eve.
The veteran actor’s tombstone was all South Africa could talk about since it comes with a couch, coffee table and plasma TV.
It is learned that a QR code is visible in the corner of the “plasma TV” that can be scanned on your phone.
“We yet again today, were granted the opportunity to create a master piece for the late Joseph Dau Mafela. Rest In Peace Sdumo,” said the elaborate headstone designers, Bataung Memorials.
The company has designed headstones for many local celebs including Vuyo Mbuli, Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi’ and John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu.
