After days of worry shadowed by grief for Mzansi, Gugu Zulu’s body has safely landed on the sacred soil of South Africa. Family spokesperson, Tseliso Motloheloa broke the news of Zulu's body getting repatriated from Tanzania on Thursday night.
He said: "we initially expected the body to arrive today (Friday) but the documents were sorted out, and we were told that he was put on a plane late yesterday afternoon, and arrived last night."
Zulu passed away on Monday morning in a just course while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds to put an end of young girls skipping school because of not having sanitary pads during their menstrual days. Zulu complained of having "flu-like" symptoms.
Motloheloa also shed some light on the funeral arrangements and said that they had not yet finalised details of a post-mortem which will determine the exact course of his sudden death.
"We are going to the mortuary now and decisions for a post-mortem will only be finalised later in the day."
Zulu does not return home alone, but with his widow Letshego who is reported to have been at his side during his final moment.
"Letshego came back with the body and is mourning surrounded by family and friends," said Motloheloa.
