Since making her debut as one of Muvhango's main characters, Doobsie in 2005, Khanyi Mbau has gone on to make her mark in several locally produced movies and series. Could 2015 be the year she reprises her role as the show's antagonist?
Mbau played the character of Doobsie, a woman embroiled in a bitter feud and love triangle for less than a year.
She was fired from the SABC 2 soapie in 2005 after she apparently attracted negative publicity to the conservative show by hogging tabloid headlines for her partying and going AWOL.
Although Mbau bounced back from her humiliating axing from the drama, losing the role was undoubtedly a lost opportunity as Muvhango commands an audience of millions each day and is one of the country's top soapies. Mbau bounced back though, and she now hosts her own talk show on eTV and stars in Vuzu Amp drama,Ayeye.
In her cover story with Bona magazine, Mbau said starring as Doobsie was her breakthrough role.
"I may or may not go back to the soapie, we're still in talks about that," she told the magazine.
