Kelly Osbourne resigns from Fashion Police

Kelly Osbourne leaves her Fashion Police family after five years on the show

The cast of the popular fashion show Fashion Police is about to get a makeover . . . again, after Kelly Osbourne’s resignation on Friday.

The 30-year-old started making threats about leaving last week on Twitter following Giuliana Rancic’s racist comments about Zendaya’s faux dreads during the E! Red Carpert Oscars Special.

Rancic said Zendaya’s dreads looked like they smelt of patchouli oil and marijuana, a loaded statement that did not sit well with her now-former colleague. Rancic later apologised to Zendaya on Twitter and in a video aired on E! News.

According to US Weekly, Osbourne claims it took three takes to finalise Rancic’s portion of the show that night. Each time, Osbourne says she reminded the cast that they couldn’t make such a crude statement about Zendaya’s hair because she is a friend of the show and a personal friend of Osbourne’s.

E! has denied that it took three takes for Rancic to get her comment right, and went on to make this diplomatic statement: “Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Friday, March 30th at 9pm and no decisions have been made on Osbourne’s replacement.

While news of Osbourne’s resignation is sinking in, E! is rumoured to be looking for her replacement. Nene Leakes of Real Housewives of Atlanta-fame, as well as Khloe Kardashian are tipped as favourites. Osbourne joined Fashion Police in 2011.
