South Africa make 411-4 against Ireland

South Africa piled up 411 for four in the World Cup Pool B match against Ireland at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday, the second highest total in the history of the competition.

Hashim Amla smashed 159 off 128 balls and Faf du Plessis scored 109, the pair sharing a second wicket stand of 247 off 217 balls.

South Africa surpassed their own total of 408-5 in the previous match against the West Indies. The tournament record is India's 413-5 against Bermuda in 2007.

Both teams have four points each, but South Africa have played three matches to Ireland's two.

India head the pool with a maximum six points from three games.
