WHEN Monica was dying she had one wish . . . she wanted her coffin to leave from the home of the man she loved more than 20 years ago.
But on Saturday her wish was denied by her ex-husband when he refused to let mourners into his house!
The funeral service was held in the street in Vila Lisa, Ekurhuleni. Monica Khoza (52) died last week after a short illness.
Her brother, George Khoza (45), said he was hurt that the man she had loved wouldn’t even attend her funeral.
He said the problems started when he went to Monica’s ex-husband, Justice Mkhabela (53), to tell him she had died.
“I told Justice about Monica’s dying wish but he said she had left the house decades ago and he had moved on with his new family. He said mourners would die or get hurt if they tried to bring Monica’s coffin to his house,” said George.
George said his sister started a relationship with Justice in 1990 but by 1995 they had separated.
Monica left to live alone in a shack while Justice stayed in their house and married another woman.
Justice said he could never allow Monica’s body into his house as he had caught her in bed with another man.
He said days later she ransacked his house and left him with nothing.
They had not spoken since 1995.
“She died in another man’s arms.
“Why should I allow her body in my house?” he said.
Shame man!
