“Sambeso,” Criselda’s new name given by her in-laws
The feast and rituals are now behind her, Metro FM radio host and campaigner Criselda Kananda can get on with the joyful life of being married. She wedded Siyolo Dudumashe over the weekend. The process began months ago with a traditional wedding ceremony at her parents’ home.
Over the weekend the couple held their second traditional wedding ceremony in Siyolo’s place of origin, in Eastern Cape at KwaDudumashe Village. Criselda looked gorgeous in her traditional Xhosa outfit as family and villagers welcomed her with love.
In accordance with the isiXhosa tradition, she was then named Sambeso – which means comforter – by the bridegroom’s father to officially welcome her into the family.Speaking to Daily Sun, sparkling Criselda said: “It’s been very emotional and incredible.
“My greatest moment was when the villagers came to fetch us to accompany us to our place. It was so touching – I felt like a princess being flocked around by the people who celebrated with us.”
Criselda said the draining parts of getting married are over and she can now relax. But she said the real work is only now beginning. “The journey starts with building our marriage. “Ours is based on love and Siyolo has been wonderful during the whole process. “We followed all the required procedures to honour God and the ancestors,” she said.
The couple will travel to an island honeymoon before going back to work.
