If you watch Idols you’ll know why it is not hard to fall in love with the only female judge on the panel, Unathi Msengana, she is that one judge who always gives contestants a chance and somewhat a gentler let down than her fellow male judges. This week it seems things came undone for the affable presenter who also co-hosts the Metro FM breakfast show (The First Avenue). It started with the recently released documentary about Stellenbosch University (YouTube link) created by the varsity’s black students who say that the institution is inherently racist and opposed to change. Unathi and one of the students behind the campaign got into a disagreement on air, with Unathi opposing their opinions, arguing that the students surely knew what they were getting themselves into when they applied to study at the institution.  After these comments, twitter blew up and #unathibelike trended. Msengana made one cardinal sin, she confronted the student on twitter and it just got messier and messier the conversation ended up in DM’s messages which were later then lets just say those messages don’t portray Unathi as sweet as she makes out to be.
