Oops she did it again; Zahara released her debut album Loliwe in 2011 which proved to be a massive success. It went platinum in 13 days, going on to selling over 100 000 copies in South Africa alone. In 2012, Zahara won no less than 8 Samas, including Best Female Artist and Album of the Year. The album was followed by a live DVD, The Beginning Live (2012) and the tribute EP, Nelson Mandela (2013).
And now she has just released an album titled Country Girl on Friday and already it’s flowing on gold.
The album has a song titled Izintaba, where she talks about the pain caused by her haters and the comments they make about her life.
It was also in the top three on iTunes within a day of its release.
Entertainment SA has learned that Country Girl it’s not just an album title, but a rhyme to her rural background upbringing.
Album producer, Robbie Malinga, said he cried when Zahara brought the song to him.
“This song brought tears to my eyes because I could see how much she was affected by everything that has been said about her, she’s young and trying to make a living off music.’’
“She’s on a journey of discovery and is growing as she goes, so she’s bound to make mistakes like everyone else,” Robbie said.
Well let’s see where this album takes the Mtutukana young lady…
