Just when we thought celebrity drama would ease a bit, AKA contradicts hopes and the festive season spirit by agitating an event organizer by not pitching up to perform.
Event organizer, Lepulane Mathila is boiling hot and wants a piece of the rapper. He claims that AKA stood him and his fans up. Worse is yet to unfold as the EVENT organiser is threatening to sue AKA for the R78 000 deposit!
The agitated Lepulane of KZN's Newcastle claimed that the controversial rapper has conned him.
Lepulane, a medical doctor by profession and co-owner of Scrapyard lounge, claims AKA was booked for a solo performance at Scrapyard lounge on Friday and to his surprise, AKA never pitched. Despite having to pay him a deposit of R78 000.
Fans were fuming and accused Lepulane of tricking them. ''I am frustrated and feel disrespected,'' said Lepulane. AKA’s manager sent us a text message just three hours before the show kicked off, informing us he was sick and could not come.
''Our management had to break the bad news to angry fans that had paid to see him. AKA had so many demands, including five-star hotel accommodation and a VIP marquee strictly for himself and his companions.''
The promoter also stated that on top of all this taboo, no public apology was offered and no formal document was sent to the venue's owners.
He further on claimed that his clients no longer trust him and have now accused him and his partners of luring them to a disorganized event.
''I gave AKA and his management more than 48 hours to get back to me and apologise, but sadly they failed. I demand my money back. If they do not comply I will take legal action.''
Sourced informed our Entertainment SA Gossip reporter that fans paid a cover charge of R250 (VIP) or R200 (General entry).
When asked to comment AKA's manager, Tshiamo Letshwene, admitted AKA did not perform at the event, but failed to elaborate further on that. ''we will release a statement in due time,'' that's all he said. As for AKA's cellphone, it just rang unanswered”
