Gareth Ciff wins the Lawsuit against M-Net

Usually Christmas comes once in a year, but surprisingly, for Gareth Cliff it will be twice this year, counting from now on it seems.

The axed idols judge has won a mammoth lawsuit against M-NET this morning, just hours before the first auditions for Idols commenced.

Gareth Cliff won his bargain to be reinstated as a judge  of the popular talent scouting show, Judge Caroline Nicholls ruled in the High Court in Johannesburg.

‘’This is a contractual dispute. The contractual relationship has to be reinstated to what it was. M-NET will pay costs to Gareth Cliff,’’ Nicholls told a packed court.

One word described Cliff’s appearance today, which is ‘’dapper’’ as he dressed smartly in a dark suite, gave an ecstatic smile as the ruling, which lasted four minutes, was read out.

Just earlier this week, the court heard received an urgent court application by him to be reinstated as a judge on the popular reality singing competition. Cliff was axed from the M-NET show after comments made on KZN realtor Penny Sparrow’s Facebook post in which she called black people monkeys.

Cliff tweeted: ‘’ people really don’t understand free speech at all’’, creating a stir on social media and prompting M-NET to give him the red card, saying it did not want to be associated with a racist.

However, on Tuesday, his lawyer Dali Mpofu opposed all odds insisting that his axing was racism at its best form, while M-NET’s Wim Trengove tried to convince the court that the broadcaster never had a contract with Cliff.

Cliff bargained for his job back and R25 million for defamation and breach of contract.

Auditions for your favorite singing competition, Idols 2016 will commence at the Playhouse in Durban on Saturday.

Not only will Gareth be singing jingle bells, he’ll also be probably saying the famous quote ‘’we came, we saw, we conquered.’’ E-SA congratulates him on the victory.
