Lawsuit or Not, Idols Auditions go ahead!

Just yesterday, E-SA published a story on the conflict betwixt Gareth Cliff and M-NET. fans wondered if they will be seeing more of their popular singing competition or not, if you are one of those.. worry no more because Idols will still continue, regardless of a R25 million lawsuit against M-NET!

As far as we know, Gareth Cliff has slapped M-NET with legal papers in regards to a lawsuit he intends to embark on after being given the boot from the show last week.

M-NET  confirmed that they fired Cliff on the basis of comments made regarding the Penny Sparrow race debate, which M-NET said while not racist, showed a ‘’lack of empathy’’

Cliff’s legal team served M-NET with a notice of intent on Friday, and on Monday, confirmed that they are not content, saying that the lawsuit would be going ahead.

It is also learned that Cliff is fully armed for the war, with advocate Dali Mpofu leading the counsel, things are bound to get nasty.

This ongoing feud twixt Cliff and M-NET  has raised speculations that the show’s auditions may have to wait. The first auditions are expected to commence on the 30th of January, in Durban.

Wait, there’s something else, speaking to the Juice, M-NET’s head of PR, Nondumiso Mabece says this isn’t the case. ‘’At this point nothing has changed in the idols schedule.’’

On Monday EWN reported Cliff’s legal team as saying that M-NET has agreed to remove his name from all advertising material with regards to the new season.

Well, well, well, the show is still going on in the midst of a R25 million lawsuit… Our Gossip reports at Entertainment SA wonder if the show will still be the same though without Gareth…..
