Today marks the 26th anniversary of Madiba's release from prison… and the whole world is commemorating this auspicious event. For House Maestro Black Coffee is quite a bittersweet anniversary, this is because on 11 February 1990, a teenage Black Coffee suffered a Brachial Plexus injury that resulted in his left arm paralysed.
Coffee decided to open up about how the incident impacted his whole life by jotting down a very touching note on Instagram that said:
''Round about this time 26 years ago I was hospitalized after the accident that left me with a Brachial Plexus injury….it was the day the Great Nelson Mandela was released from jail….It was a big day for the Country and the World at large….It was the People's long life Dream coming true…. While I was out Celebrating this moment my world was turned upside down….all my dreams of being involved in Music were shattered on this day…but Faith kept me going it kept me alive….I used to hate this day….every year it would depress me but I've come a long way since then I've learnt so much about myself and I now celebrate this day as it changed my life…because of this day I've learnt to push all the limits….I've worked twice as hard to realize my dreams in Music.''
Today Coffee is one of our entertainment bangers in SA, he didn't allow himself to be a victim of circumstances, we should look up to people like him… stand up and fight for what we love, or what we love will fight us… In the name of gossip, stay entertained with E-SA.
