Three people were extremely hurt during an unlawful car race in Durban, paramedics said on Friday.

Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle van Reenen confirmed that two cars collided on North Coast Road, at high speed just after 22:00 on Thursday.

Lucky enough bystanders were able to drag both drivers out of the vehicles before one caught fire.

According to reports, “One man sustained serious injury in the collision and advanced life support care was needed to stabilise him on scene, before he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital."

It seems as if the illegal racers did not have luck much luck on their site this week, as reports confirmed another incident that took place on the morning of Friday.

In the second incident, two people sustained serious injuries on Inanda Road.

“Reports from the scene suggest the two vehicles were allegedly racing, when one of the drivers lost control at high speed, colliding with the other vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway, colliding with a wall."

The two injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

E-SA is wishing all the racers a speedy recovery and hope that next time they will drive responsible
