The countdown has begun for one of the most anticipated movie to hit our big screens this month.
Cynthia Jele’s multi-award winning novel Happiness is a Four-Letter Word has been turned into a screenplay.
The movie premieres on 19 February and is directed by Thabang Moleya. The cast includes Mmabatho Montsho as Nandi, Khanyi Mbau as Zaza and Renate Stuurman as Princess.
Renate was quoted saying: “It was exciting for me to play Princess who is one of the leading characters in the movie. “It seems I attract the type of characters like her who are skeptical about love.
“She’s been burned before and tries to keep guys at arm’s length.
“When she is in a relationship she wants to control everything.” Renate said the movie is about three friends who live in Joburg. They are going through the journey of finding love and happiness in the City of Gold. “I think women will relate to this movie because as in any friendship, the characters are all different and relate to each other differently. “It is also a great date night movie which will have a particular resonance with black women,” she said.
Asked what it was like to act alongside Mmabatho and Khanyi, she said: “As much as we may seem to be very different, we got along so well. “People always think that women don’t work well together but that’s not true. “We had so much fun on set and had a great connection, so much so that it didn’t even feel like work.”
The men cast members include Chris Attoh, James van Heldinge, Terence Bridget, Richard Lukunku, Tongay Chirisa, Daniel Hadebe and Hlomla Dandala.
Renate urged people to support local films, especially on the opening weekend, as this determines how long a film remains on circuit.
We at Entertainment SA can’t wait for the 19th February when the Movie hits our screens.
