According to Sunday Independent the two passengers, who were in Seiphemo’s Audi A4, are not known to the actor.
One of the passengers died on the scene and the other is under heavy police guard after trying to escape from hospital.
On Monday, Police Captain Tekiso Mofokeng told Destiny that the police are investigating the accusations, but cannot disclose any further evidence on these hijacking charges.
One of Jeremiah Coertze’s family members reached out to Destiny following the allegations that Seiphemo could have been hijacked. Coertze’s cousin, Christelle Tosoni, grilled the reports and called them weird.
Tosoni said to Destiny: “So, if it was indeed a hijacking, where are the weapons that should have been found in the vehicle wreck? A gun or knife or anything to support the story of a hijacking? Surely you must have wondered the same thing. Nowhere does it state that any weapons were found in Rapulana’s vehicle.”
“It’s just very odd that the whole accident is claimed to have been the cause of the hijacking. Maybe if the police are more forthcoming with their investigation, we wouldn’t have to wonder about all of these things.”
Apparently the family has been complaining that the police have not been updating them regarding the accident. However, Captain Mofokeng says that this is untrue and that the police have been updating the families.
Mofokeng said, “As far as I know, we have been updating the families of what is happening. [They] should also speak to the investigating officer if they want information.”
Other reports claim that Rapulana’s car was speeding…
It seems as if there’s more to this accident as an eyewitness Eugene Ravhuanzwo revealed to Sowetan: “The white Audi A4 drove past me so fast, you know the kind of speed that leaves your car shaking.
“And within seconds I saw dust, particles and things flying in the air. I was so shaken.”
Ravhuanzwo said that when he stopped to help he saw that bodies were scattered across the road.
“When we got to him he was still unconscious. It was not a pretty sight. There were bodies on the road, clothes scattered. When the paramedics arrived I recognised Tau [Seiphemo’s character in Generations].
“I was in tears. It was a horrific scene,” he said.
Jody van Zyl, survivor of the accident that killed his brother Donovan van Zyl (24) and his brother-in-law Jerry Coertze (28) last Sunday night.
Said, "This man must be charged with two counts of murder for killing my brother and our brother-in-law. He must also be charged with attempted murder for trying to kill me," said Jody.
"I'm actually worried that while we lost two people and I also almost died, nobody is reaching out or cares about us. They care about him because he is an actor."
