There is nothing in the world so funny than people’s faces when they hear a guy say ‘’I can cook.’’ It’s like they just heard that the president was dancing naked in parliament… the last time I told a lady I know how to cook, a fire brigadier stopped at her house to check if she was ‘’ok,’’ I am still confused till today.
You would be surprised as to how many cuisines I can rock up in the kitchen…from African, English till Indian cuisines. Speaking of Indian cuisines, the reason why their curries taste so luscious and can be eaten for the whole week without losing appetite of it is because of two cheap and unnoticed ingredients in your cupboard. It’s lemon juice or vinegar!
While I was in boarding school, an Indian chef once said that the reason why I ate too much curry without getting bored of it was because vinegar or lemon juice if you don’t have, eliminates the smell of blood from the meat. All you need to do is take your meat out of the freezer, put it in a sink or bowl filled with water, add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar, and let it simmer for at least an hour… you will realise that even flies won’t bother your meat while it’s defrosting.
From there, you may as well marinade it with your secret ingredients of herbs and spices. Just to tell you my secrets, I use a certain mixture of Indian spices named ‘’garam masala’’ and ‘’jeero’’ with a touch of cinnamon and turmeric… mmmmmmmm, I get hungry just by talking about it… wait, and garlic, and ginger… can’t stop thinking about it.
