Imagine a Somizi for an mc amazing! (SAFTAS)

Already he’s making waves with small commercials conducted by his style of humour and a little bit touch of #sisterhood… now, imagine him as an MC for the SAFTAS (The South African Film and Television Awards)

We hope it’s safe to say the sexy ACTOR and choreographer Somizi Mhlongo and entertainment journalist Nadia Neophytou will be your eyes and ears at this year’s 10th Saftas Red Carpet action.

The two were announced yesterday as presenters of the Saftas, how wonderful.

The sweet gossip comes just two weeks ahead of the two-legged ceremony which will be hosted at Gallagher Estate on Friday 18 March and Sunday 20 March.

Zama Mkosi, CEO at the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa, said they were very delighted to be working with Somizi and Nadia, who wouldn’t be? It’s like a colourful fruit mix gushing with different juices. “Both of them are home-grown talents that have built stellar, longstanding careers. They are at the peak of their game,” she said.

An excited Somizi said taking this gig was less about the money and more about being a part of history, and the biggest event on the awards calendar in Mzansi, how thoughtful of him.

“I’m looking forward to bringing something different. . . something ‘rattata’, something Somizi, to the Saftas 2016 Red Carpet as a presenter,” he said.

Somizi is one of our very versatile artists and has appeared as a guest on shows such as 10 Over 10, City Ses’la, Dance Your Butt Off, and also boasts the title of judge on Idols SA.

What makes him even more special is that he has also appeared in movies such as Sarafina!, Cry, the Beloved Country and Scavengers.

US-based Nadia said she was very excited to be heading home to SA to co-host the Saftas. “Whenever I cover a film festival or awards ceremony and see a South African doing well, it makes me incredibly proud.

“I’m looking forward to interviewing the filmmakers, producers, actors and TV stars who’ve been nominated. I’m looking forward to seeing who takes home the Golden Horn,” she said.

After all, there’s no place like home!
