It's been over two weeks since the departure of "Mama Panther" Pearl Thusi, from Live Amp music show on SABC1, and they've yet to find a replacement for her.
According to sources in the know, who are close to the music show, the SABC bigwigs allegedly tried offering the gig to another "it girl" Minnie Dlamini and it turns out she apparently turned down the gig, citing other commitments and a busy schedule.
When asked if the rumours were true, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that Minnie was approached for the position, but denied the rumours that she gave the broadcaster the cold shoulder.
And so it seems like the search to fill Pearl Thusi's position is still on. Pearl Thusi left the show in the lurch just before she announced that she has been offered a new as host of Lip Sync Battle, alongside D'Banj on DSTV's MTV channel.
The SABC won’t reveal the reason's as to why the presenter left in the manner she did, which has nonetheless fuelled speculations that the bosses at the public broadcaster weren't happy that one of their presenter's wanted to ply her trade for a rival television station.
Just one week after Pearl Thusi's departure from the show her arch-rival, Bonang matheba appeared on the show as the guest presenter, where she brought, AKA, who she is alleged to be dating who debut his single on the show. The general consensus was that the couple brought down the house with their electrical chemistry.
Kaizer Kganyago has said that while the search for a presenter continues the show will continue using guest presenters for the show – we wonder who the next guest presenter will be. Zinhle perhaps?
Perhaps it's time a relative unknown takes over the show and that's why we at Entertainment-SA are getting our CV's ready.
