It has been reported that 3sum member, Koyo Bala, who has been battling cancer for the past three years has died, he was admitted the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town at the time. The singer who was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2013 was undergoing extensive chemotherapy to beat his illness.

Koyo, was determined to not let the illness overcome him as he was always open on social media about his illness and about how he was getting on with his treatment, at the time he had also intimated at a possible comeback to the music scene, as he posted pictures of himself busy in studio.

Social media has been abuzz with messages of condolences pouring in for the late singer.

At the time of his death, Koyo Bala was part of bubble gum pop group 3sum which consisted of three members, Koyo Bala, Jeff Moyo and Amstel Maboe. Only one member of the group 3sum now remains as the other member, Jeff Moyo passed away in 2010.
