According to Zalebs, rapper Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye could be released from prison this year. The singer, who was involved in a drag racing culpable homicide in 2010 which resulted in the deaths of four teenagers, received a 25-year jail sentence after he and his friend, Themba Tshabalala, were found guilty.
Although, a recent report by Sunday World, revealed that the singer, who has a son with Kelly Khumalo, may be granted parole in December.
“In terms of DCS (Department of Correctional Service) policy, an offender does not apply for parole but will automatically be considered for possible placement on parole once a certain portion of his sentence has been completed”, explained spokesperson, Singabhakho Nxumalo from Correctional Services.
Nxumalo is said by Zalebs to have also emphasised that there are many factors that play a role in Jub Jub possibly receiving parole. One of those factors includes the victims' families, who need to be consulted and their opinions taken into consideration before any parole is granted.
