Just as one soapie announces public auditions another one is warning against scams that are calling for auditions. Muvhango has warned its fans against a scam that is calling for auditions at a fee of R300.
In a statement, the popular SABC2 soapie's team mentioned that there's currently a scam that has seen potential actors being invited to audition or do screen tests for different characters in Orange Grove, Johannesburg.
"The scammers unfortunately used the name of a casting agency we have been doing business with for years and as a result, we are left with no choice but to cut ties with Becky Casting Agency as their name was roped in from an e-mail we had sent to the agency," said the show's associate producer, Morishe Matlejoane .
Matlejoane has appealed to fans and aspiring actors out there to note that it doesn’t cost money to audition, and has warned that they be wary of such practices as they’re often than not scams.
The muvhango team has apologised to all fans for the inconvenience caused and has encouraged people who were victims of the fake casting calls to report the matter to the police stations closest to the bogus audition venues.
