Trueloves Cover Stirs Negative Twitter Reaction.

Truelove magazine came under fire on Monday afternoon over their supposed “use of excessive retouching” on the image of this month’s front cover girl Lerato Kganyago. Plenty of twitter users had a lot to say about the front cover of the magazine.

The magazine trended for the whole afternoon of Monday with more than 41 000 tweets making the rounds about their cover. Celebrities even waded in on the matter, with stars like Bonang and Nomzamo tweeting the following:

Voicing her views on instagram, Lerato Kganyago has expressed her disappointment in the amount of excessive retouching, which has gone on, but she ultimately stands by her cover, she went on to compliment the photographer for the remarkable pictures he took.

"Nick Boulton is one of the most amazing photographers in the country. He captured me beautifully, it must be disheartening even for him to have his work continuously retouched (PhotoShopped) to a point of no recognition”

When asked for comment True Love editor Dudu Mvimbi released a statement which said: “As a brand that stands for women empowerment, TRUE LOVE would never intentionally do anything to compromise women and their public profile. We have a responsibility not to tarnish our cover star’s image, to produce authentic content for our readers and to uphold the brand’s integrity."

The magazine also released unedited photographs, as well as the edited photographs to support their claim that minimal retouching was done on their part.
