Kgomotso Christopher who is set to make her debut on E-TV’s Scandal! on the 30th of June, as Naledi’s alienated mother, Yvonne. (We previously reported about that here)
Although things were sounding and looking up for Kgomotso, she’s admitted that it took a whole lot more than a nail and tooth to make sure that she fitted the role.
She reveals how she was approached for the role, “A day before shooting the drama, Scandal! was looking for someone for the new role.” They weren’t sure if I would be interested as I had just left a soapie. Sure enough as soon as I saw the character bible, I went back and said, 'I don’t think it’s going to work.' So I actually turned it down," she told Sowetan’s, Tonight.
Kgomotso, better known as ‘’Katlego’’ (from her Isidingo days) reveals how concerned she was with the age of the character compared to her real age. She explains that playing Katlego, on Isidingo, was already a bit of a challenge as she was older than she was. Now she had to play, Yvonne, who it so happens is even way older.
However Kgomotso and the Scandal! team went back to the drawing board and spiced up a few details to make her character a bit more believable, not to mention suitable for her.
Kgomotso has told us she’s looking forward to her new character, and she would like her fans to be patient with Yvonne as she slowly warms up to her character.
"We discover Yvonne in increments. That is how we are introducing the character," she teased.
