Local afro-soul singer Zonke Dikana has reason to smile again, this as her latest album, Work of Heart, reached platinum status.
Her album which was released last year, September went gold in November 2015, shortly after its release, and still seems to be climbing the sales charts, as fans scramble to get their hand on a copy.
Zonke, who’s been off the radar for some time definitely bounced back in a big way with her hot new album. To celebrate her achievement, she posted her framed platinum selling album on Instagram on Wednesday to show gratitude to her fans for their love and support with the following caption.
"Thank you so much for the love and endless support, it's given me longevity. I always go against the grain but you always shelter me from the rain. Thank you for loving me,".
Zonke also took some time to reminisce about the good old days when her father used to tell her stories about music and the sabotage they would experience on stage, and she said:
“Those stories are still with me, those are the stories that make me not feel bad about being the kind of person that I am, the kind of artist that stays out of sight. I don’t feel bad about not being at each and every event…I really don’t because those are the type of stories that are still ringing in my ears. These are the kinds of things that happen within the industry."
On that note, EntertainmentSA would like to also congratulate Zonke’s on her momentous achievement… We’re definitely looking forward to more beautiful sounds in the future.
