Louis Vuitton and Virgil Abloh fund the fight to end Aids in eight African countries

Louis Vuitton has partnered with (Red), the organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006 to fight Aids

The biggest supporter of the Global Fund To Fight Aids, Tuberculosis And Malaria, (Red) has generated more than £450 million for HIV/Aids-related programmes, notably through its partnerships.

It has worked with Giorgio Armani, Apple, Coca-Cola, Montblanc, Beats By Dre, Balmain, Durex, Canon, Amazon, Nike, Belvedere Vodka and Converse to create exclusive products (typically in a scarlet colourway), such as limited-edition iPhones and a bold Amazon Echo. (Red) has also worked with John Legend, Nile Rogers, Lady Gaga and Steven Spielberg.

Now, Louis Vuitton, who previously partnered with (Red) in 2019 on an exclusive candle, is about to drop a limited-edition pair of sneakers in support of the organisation. The basketball-influenced LV Sneaker was first presented during men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh’s debut Spring/Summer 2019 show and features Vuitton’s typical logo detailing such as the monogram flowers on the heel.

The latest take on the signature leather sneaks, which are limited to just 150 pairs in selected countries worldwide, comes in a scarlet-and-white colourway, nodding to (Red)’s powerful messaging. And from every sale of the trainers, which retail at £890, $200 will be donated to (Red).
