    83 nominations later: Jay Z becomes most Grammy-nominated artist of all time

    Rapper-producer Jay-Z has become the most-nominated artiste in Grammy Awards history.

    He was nominated 3 times at his year’s Grammy nominations, pushing him to 83.

    He had previously been tied with legendary producer/composer Quincy Jones at 80.

    Though Jay did not put out an album this year, he was nominated three times for his work on Kanye West’s album “Donda,” and DMX’s song “Bath Salts.”

    Jay-Z, who helped to jumpstart West’s career, made an unexpected appearance on the song “Jail,” the rappers’ first collaboration since their 2011 album Watch The Throne.

    It’s a family thing

    Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé holds the record for the most Grammy wins in history, which she achieved during last year’s ceremony when she took home her 28th award.

    Their oldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter won her first Grammy last year at 9-years-old, making her one of the youngest people to ever win the award.

    She won her award for her appearance on ‘Brown Skin Girl’ a celebratory anthem filled with familiar faces — including Lupita Nyong’o and Kelly Rowland.

    The which was part of Beyoncé’s “Black Is King,” a musical film and visual album.

    Jay Z was a month ago officially been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and currently has 23 Grammy Awards to his name.

    The Grammy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live via CBS from Los Angeles on January 31, 2022.
