Al Nassr boss rubbishes Cristiano Ronaldo immediate signing

Former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is a subject of speculation once again as he is heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

However, Al Nassr boss Musli Ali-Muammar has rubbished reports that they are about to sign the former Real Madrid hitman.

Ali-Mummar said the reports carried out by Spanish media are untrue and that they have not invited Ronaldo for a medical.

Media reports suggest that Ronaldo is about to complete his mega £173million-a-year move to the Saudi club, insisting claims in Spain are ‘mostly a lie’.

Spanish news outlet Marca have been reporting that Ronaldo is close to finalising a money-spinning move to the Middle East after he had his Manchester United deal terminated last month following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

CBS Sports posted on Monday that a medical had been booked for Ronaldo at Al-Nassr and the Saudi club was growing in confidence that he will choose to join them.

‘[Reports on] Ronaldo are not right and most of what has been written and said in the [Spanish] media is a lie’, Al-Muammar said after Al-Nassr’s 2-2 draw with Al Hilal, as posted by A Bola.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has it that the Portugal skipper is on the verge of earning $75m-a-year (£62m) if he takes Al-Nassr’s offer, while image rights and other endorsements could see this figure rise considerably to around £173m-a year.

In addition, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said they need to sign a top striker just after losing Ronaldo last month.

“Second, yes, we are aware we lost a striker, so I think we have to get a striker in, but it has to be the right one,” he said.

“The right one is a player that brings quality to the team, not just adding to the squad because that only gives you problems. And, you know the criteria is high here at Manchester United.”
