‘Fatigued’ Durban-based DJ Kotini rubbishes stroke reports

Following news that another Durban-based musician has suffered a stroke, DJ Kotini has set the record straight, saying he is just ‘fatigued’.

The news of Kotini’s illness comes just after that of Lvovo who is reportedly hospitalised for suffering a mild stroke.

However, Kotini has denied the media reports insisting that he is just tired and that he is at home and not in a hospital ward as widely reported.

Born Siyabonga Zikode, Kotini, made headlines after L’vovo was hospitalised due to a stroke and Big Nuz member Mampintsha passed away at a Durban hospital and has rubbished claims that he had a stroke.

The 38-year-old DJ Kotini told Daily Sun that he’s at home and not at the hospital, he said he didn’t have a stroke as suggested by certain media outlets and social media.

“I did not suffer a stroke. I am just fatigued. Also, I’m at home, not at the hospital,” he said per Daily Sun.

“I went to see a doctor and I was there for like three hours. I think someone saw me there and assumed that I had a stroke. I don’t know why though.”

The South African has it that Kwaito star T’zozo revealed on social media that two more unnamed musicians from Durban have been hospitalised after L’vovo had a stroke and Mampintsha died on Saturday, 24 December.

Speaking to MDN News on Twitter, T’zozo revealed in a video that they need prayers as the province’s entertainment fraternity.

Meanwhile, Entertainment SA reported that the death of a loved one is difficult, especially when that person is a musician and record label owner like Mandla Mampintsha Maphumulo, according to his family.

“He was loved by his family and the nation,” said family spokeswoman Zanele Maphumulo at a joint family meeting on Monday between the Simelane and Maphumulo families.

Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, a popular singer and businessman, died on Christmas Eve at the age of 40, only days after his record company revealed that he had suffered a stroke and was in the hospital recovering.

The family also revealed information on his memorial service, which will be held on Thursday in Durban Central, as well as his funeral, which will be held on Friday. The details, however, have not yet been finalised and will be released in due time.
