Ex-Arsenal star Emmanuel Frimpong has advised the English Premier League log leaders to vie for Sadio Mane’s signature.
Frimpong believes the Senegal skipper can add value at the Emirates Stadium under manager Mikel Arteta as he is reportedly set to leave Bayern Munich.
The former Liverpool attacker is facing an uncertain future in Germany following his explosive fight with Leroy Sane earlier this month.
As also reported by Entertainment SA Sport, Mane allegedly punched Sane in the face after Bayern’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
The 31-year-old was then sidelined for one match by the Bundesliga outfit and it is said he will reportedly be shown the exit door in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Frimpong pointed out the fact that Mane would be a great signing for Arsenal, especially with the young players that they have. He will be able to play on the wings or down the middle.
“We have players like Trossard, Martinelli and Saka, and if we had Mane in the mix to get us through tough competitions, we would be powerful. I can imagine Sadio Mane in an Arsenal shirt, for sure,” he said.
As the legend downplayed worries over Mane’s actions and behaviour, he said the West African’s actions were a poor reflection of his personality.
He recalled when two Arsenal team-mates were involved in a similar incident, insisting it’s normal for tensions to be high in a dressing room.
He added such things happen in football and he recalled it took place while he was with the Gunners. He explained that two players got into a fight behind closed doors but they moved on.
Moreover, Frimpong said he heard that Mane apologised, and they have moved on saying “that’s what all that matters in the game”.
