It seems Argentina and Paris St. Germain star Lionel Messi has crossed the in France as he is suspended for unauthorized travel.
Messi is reportedly sidelined by the French giants after visiting Saudi Arabia without the consent of the club.
It is mentioned that the current FIFA World Cup holder has been hit with a two-week suspension and will miss their upcoming league matches as they look to lift the league title.
Sky Sports reported that Saudi tourism minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb tweeted a welcome to Messi on Monday.
He also shared photographs of the former Barcelona star, only hours after he had played 90 minutes of PSG’s 3-1 home defeat to Lorient.
In addition, the loss meant Lorient cut PSG’s lead at the top of French Ligue 1 to just five points with as many games remaining.
“I am happy to welcome Messi and his family to Saudi to enjoy the magical tourist destinations and authentic experiences,” Al-Khateeb tweeted.
“We welcome visitors from all around the world to experience a unique trip to Saudi Arabia and its hospitality.”
Looking at a tweet by a famous sports reporter based in Italy, Fabrizio Romano, also confirmed the suspension.
“Paris Saint-Germain confirms to AFP they are set to “discipline football star Lionel Messi over his trip to Saudi Arabia”. The suspension will be valid for the next two weeks — it could include no chance to play games and participate to group trainings,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, the suspension will also fuel speculation that Messi might leave the Parisiens at the end of the current season.
@Gojo said: “Messi will play under Al-Nassr for the time being.”
@Tumie wrote: “Messi suspended at his club, meanwhile Ronaldo wants to leave his club. Yoh.”
He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but a possible return to Barcelona is also on the cards per the latest media reports.
