Napoli drops asking price for hot Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen

After emerging as a standout performer for Italian Serie A side Napoli last season, Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen has been nominated to claim a major award.

The Super Eagles star will compete against players such as Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool as well as Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez who plays for Manchester City.

The trio has been nominated for the Best African Player in the international category by organisers of the Ghana Football Awards.

For the Reds, Salah netted 30 goals and registered 16 assists in 51 games while Mahrez found the back of the net on 15 occasions plus 13 assists out of 47 appearances in all competitions for the English Premier League champions.

The West African finisher scored 26 goals that saw him becoming the first player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2009 to scoop the Italian Golden Boot award as they won the championship.

Coming back to Osimhen’s future following stellar displays in Italy, media reports reveal that Napoli are prepared to accept a €120 million offer – according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Osimhen is on the radar of top European clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea but Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are included in the race.

Addressing his future and the fact that he is one of the most wanted players in Europe, Osimhen said he doesn’t know anything, but the club will decide his next move.

“I love the people of Napoli. They have shown me so much love – for me, I don’t mind, the president decides, and I will just go with the flow,” Osimehn told DAZN.

He added that he was grateful to God for the past season, for his teammates and family as the Neapolitans deserve all of this.

“This season has been brilliant for me, my teammates, and the Neapolitans. I think I’ve done so well this season and deserve every good thing I’ve got, but I feel motivated to do even more next season,” he concluded.
