Lauryn Hill set to headline Global Citizen Festival

Amazing American songstress Lauryn Hill is set headline the 2023 Global Citizen Festival, alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The artists are going to be joined by other great stars such as Megan Thee Stallion, Conan Gray and Stray Kids when the free ticketed, event returns to the Great Lawn of Central Park in New York City on the 23rd of September.

The main aim of the festival is that is it part of the advocacy organisation’s efforts to drive urgent action to end extreme poverty now and it looks at the issues behind why more people than ever are living in dire straits, including the impacts of climate change, inequalities affecting women and girls across the world, and the global hunger crisis.

The tickets to the event are available for free and they can be earned and accessible by joining the movement and taking action on the Global Citizen app or website on various issues connected to the campaign.

In a statement, the Co-Founder and CEO of the event, Hugh Evans said COP27, this year’s G7, the World Bank Spring Meetings and the Paris climate finance summit all failed to deliver proper results, or disruption of the world’s unjust systems, however, complacency can’t win.

“If we want to see breakthroughs on development and climate change, we need the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and all G7 nations to meet the urgency of the hour. Every single citizen has a vital role to play, and together, we must be laser-focused on driving results and impact in September.” – he added.

Last year, the festival took place in New York City, and it saw the likes of Metallica, Mariah Carey, Jonas Brothers, MANESKIN and Charlie Puth take to the stage, while in Accra, Ghana, Usher, SZA, Stormzy and H.E.R. were among the artists who performed in the iconic Black Star Square.
