TV personality and rapper Jub Jub has been granted R10,000 bail in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court after he was charged with rape, attempted murder and assault.
Upon his release, Jub Jub has been ordered to hand over his passport within 48 hours.
It was also confirmed that he appeared on charges of attempted murder and rape of his ex-girlfriend Amanda Du-Pont.
Du-Pont, in December 2021 after Jub Jub spoke about her in his interview with Mac G on “Podcast and Chill” brought public claims that she “was raped and physically abused by Jub Jub”. She has been getting a lot of support from fans as well as well-known brands and NGO’s.
Sowetan reported last year that Du Pont opened a rape case against the rapper at the Brixton police station.
In an interview with eNCA, legal expert Zola Majavu revealed that said it doesn’t matter how long ago the allegations dates back, it depends on the evidence on which these charges are anchored.
Majavu also assured viewers that the fact that Jub Jub was “admitted to bail without any opposition, seems to suggest that he had finished his parole term.”
