By carefully curating lineups that capture the sound’s colourful essence, Piano People has connected dancefloors from North America to Europe under the Amapiano banner. The brand continues championing the niche style’s emergence, fuelled by breaking borders when the music moves our collective spirit.

Wherever Piano People stages its next sonic homecoming, one knows that the Amapiano family far and wide will answer the call in jubilant force.

Speaking of staging the next gathering…the 19th of November saw the world’s biggest Amapiano festival hosted in Drumsheds in London. The event, courtesy of Piano People, was one for the books.

The one-of-a-kind festival was headlined by duo Major League DJz and included big South African acts such as Oskido, DJ Maphorisa, DBN Gogo, Kelvin Momo, Musa Keys, Virgo Deep, Sino Msolo, Uncle Vinny to name a few.

Let’s talk about Major League DJz’ absolutely amazing set. For those of us who couldn’t help but watch through our phones, thank goodness for social media, we were forced to regret why we weren’t part of the 15 000 people who were in the room listening to #10HOURSOFGROOVE.

The night was epic and it aimed to encompass all the different genres that Amapiano has to offer, giving the attendees the opportunity to fully be exposed to Amapiano as a whole. This is the perfect way to ensure that the genre reaches more people and becomes more accessible to a global audience.

Uncle Vinny has been with Major League DJz since he came into the scene during COVID. Remember the guy with the dreads who trended for his weird dance moves? Well, he’s in London on stage with Major League, shutting it down. Ever since his rise to fame, Vinny has been under the wings of the twin brothers and they’ve fostered a working relationship that has turned into a brotherhood in front of our eyes.

It’s honestly so refreshing to see how the Amapiano genre has grown and has become celebrated by other countries. Our stories matter. People in the world want to hear our stories from us because only we can tell them the way that we do. And in order for that to happen, we have to ship out our best acts to represent us because South Africans are certified groovists.

These epic global gatherings aren’t just parties, they are a movement.
