The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the schedule for the two-leg final of the inaugural African Football League (AFL) between Moroccan club Wydad Athletic Club and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
The first leg took place on Sunday, November 5th at Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Morocco. Kick-off was for 7PM local time (6PM GMT, 8PM Cairo time).
The decisive second leg will then be held on Sunday, November 12th at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa. The match will start at 3PM local time (1PM GMT, 3PM Cairo time) where the first-ever AFL champions will be crowned.
The CAF-FIFA African Football League aims to increase the global competitiveness and commercial viability of African club football.
The AFL winner will receive $4 million in prize money, with the runner-up earning $3 million. Semi-finalists each take home $1.7 million, while quarter-finalists receive $1 million a piece.
The two fixtures promise to be an exciting conclusion between two of Africa’s top clubs vying for continental glory.
