Watch: Tyla teaches Jennifer Hudson the Water dance on the Jennifer Hudson Show

As Tyla’s hit track “Water” continues to dominate music charts, her star is on a constant ascent. Following her Grammy nomination, Tyla recently appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show, where she not only discussed her journey but also taught the American singer the viral Water dance challenge.

The success of Tyla’s hit has recently earned her a spot in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Tyla holds the distinction of being the first solo South African musician to grace the chart since jazz legend Hugh Masekela’s “Grazing in the Grass” more than five decades ago. In 2021, she signed with the US label Epic Records, marking a significant step in her burgeoning career in the entertainment industry.

Among her notable achievements, Tyla joined Chris Brown on his European tour, which spanned from London on February 14 to Paris on March 26. Additionally, she secured features with Travis Scott and DJ Marshmello and made a memorable appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show.

Reflecting on her rapid rise to international stardom, Tyla expressed feeling overwhelmed. She conveyed her hope that people worldwide can appreciate African music and emphasized the need for a broader international audience for the rich talent in the region. Tyla expressed gratitude for the unexpected international attention, acknowledging that she was prepared to dedicate years to reach such a point. She feels blessed for the opportunity and aspires to have her pop-infused style recognized globally.

In a recent interview on Kanal 5 Sverige, Tyla shared her ambition to become one of Africa’s foremost pop stars, aiming to inspire young people with her journey and music.
