Actor Jamie Foxx made his first public appearance in months at an LA awards event on Monday, revealing he couldn’t walk just six months ago due to a mysterious illness. Foxx said he “been through some things” and described nearly dying and seeing “the tunnel” before joking about encountering the devil.
“I saw the tunnel; I didn’t see the light! It was hot in that tunnel too. I don’t know what was going on… ‘S##t, am I going to the right place?’ I see the devil going, ‘C’mon!’”, joked Foxx.
The Oscar-winner provided no details on the April medical crisis that occurred while filming a Netflix movie in Georgia. But Foxx, 55, suggested it was a harrowing ordeal, admitting he wondered if he was “going to the right place.”
Earlier this year, Foxx had told fans on Instagram he went “to hell and back” during his road to recovery. The actor was in Georgia filming the action comedy “Back in Action” co-starring Cameron Diaz when he fell gravely ill.
Foxx’s health struggles caused him to drop out of the film, but he appeared in good spirits on Monday while accepting an acting award. He thanked supporters for their prayers during the unspecified brush with mortality.
