Kim Kardashian is making a beauty comeback with the launch of SKKN by Kim Makeup, featuring a collection of nude lip liners, lipsticks, and an eyeshadow palette inspired by her iconic style. This move comes after she closed down KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance in August 2021 to revamp formulas, packaging, and enhance the overall shopping experience.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Kardashian explained her decision to consolidate her beauty brands under one umbrella, emphasizing the convenience for consumers. The relaunch with SKKN by Kim in 2022 reflects her commitment to providing better, more innovative products for her audience.
Despite the success of KKW Beauty, Kardashian is confident about the relaunch, stating, “I’m not scared at all. This is the evolution of who I am and the original brand — and it was important that the quality of the product is better, the packaging is better, and I am listening to what my consumers want.”
The initial SKKN by Kim Makeup launch includes a trio of high-performance products. The Lip Liner, priced at $22, offers 15 velvety-smooth shades, meeting the high demand from fans. Kardashian, a self-proclaimed perfectionist, notes that lip liners are her favorite product. The collection also features the Soft Matte Lip Color ($32) in 10 shades and the Classic Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($50) with 12 universally flattering nude shades.
The brand name, SKKN, chosen for its alignment with Kim’s initials, emphasizes the goal of benefiting the skin. Kardashian emphasizes the clean, hydrating, and comfortable nature of the products, aiming to improve the look and feel of the skin with every wear.
Looking ahead, Kardashian plans to expand the SKKN brand with new product categories, including the return of fragrance. She envisions SKKN BY KIM evolving to offer a wide range of skin-benefiting products, including fragrance.
Kim Kardashian’s approach to beauty aligns with the philosophy of accentuating natural features and taking care of the skin. She emphasizes that good skincare enhances the application of makeup, contributing to an overall better appearance.
As she sets intentions and goals for the year, Kardashian remains focused on enjoying the process rather than succumbing to trends. She appreciates the bonding experience with her 10-year-old daughter, North West, who shares her passion for beauty and special effects makeup. The beauty mogul is not just making a comeback; she’s evolving her brand to cater to the changing desires of her diverse audience.
