WATCH: Bonko Khoza and Nqobile Khumalo play lead in ‘Red Ink’

The highly anticipated trailer for ‘Red Ink’ is finally out, and it is promising a gripping thriller that will send shivers down your spine.

Adapted from Angela Makholwa-Moabelo’s bestselling debut novel, the collaboration between Makholwa-Moabelo’s Britespark Films and Bomb Productions has generated significant buzz. Bomb Productions, renowned for delivering top-notch content, has joined forces with Showmax for the first time, assembling an exceptional cast from the cream of the acting industry for this project.

The eight-part thriller revolves around the narrative of Lucy Khambule, a journalist turned publicist, who is approached by a incarcerated serial killer eager to share his story.

Nqobile Nunu Khumalo, a SAFTA nominee celebrated for her role in ‘Scandal!,’ takes on the lead role of Lucy, while SAFTA winner Bonko Khoza, best known for his breakout role as Mqhele in ‘The Wife,’ portrays Napoleon Dingiswayo, nicknamed the Butcher by the media.

‘Red Ink’ reunites Khoza with two of the other Zulu brothers from ‘The Wife,’ namely DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice winners Kwenzo Ngcobo and Abdul Khoza.

The star-studded cast also includes Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku, the breakout star of Showmax’s recent hit, ‘Outlaws,’ along with SAFTA winners Bongile Mantsai and Jo-Anne Reyneke, not to mention Tsholofelo Maseko and Yonda Thomas.

Makholwa-Moabelo, serving as the executive producer and co-writer of the Showmax Original, expresses her excitement for viewers to witness her book come to life on screen. She has been actively involved in every aspect of the production process, from casting to wardrobe.

“The fear from an author normally stems from having to let go of something that you have birthed and nurtured. Any book is a labour of love for a writer, so handing it over to somebody else to translate into a different medium will always be nerve-wracking,” Makholwa-Moabelo remarks.
