WATCH: JOEBOY RELEASES FIRST SINGLE “OSADEBE” UNDER WARNER MUSIC AFRICA

Nigerian sensation Joeboy, celebrated for his chart-topping hits and distinctive sound, has dropped his highly anticipated single, “Osadebe,” marking his first release since joining forces with Warner Music Africa. The track made its debut on February 16th, accompanied by an enthralling music video that promises to elevate the visual experience.

“Osadebe” is more than just a song; it’s a testament to Joeboy’s evolution as an artist and a glimpse into the musical journey he is embarking on with Warner Music Africa. The single sets the stage for a series of releases that will culminate in a much-anticipated EP towards the end of the year.

With a smooth tempo and thought-provoking lyrics, “Osadebe” delves into themes of self-reflection and positive affirmations. The song pays homage to the late Chief Osita Osadebe’s iconic hit “Osondi Owendi,” which dominated the music scene in the southeast and south-south regions of Nigeria in the early 2000s.

“I no dey cross my lane lane, I’m living like Osadebe, Osondi Owendi” encapsulates Joeboy’s attitude towards the unnecessary comparisons and pressures that often accompany success in the music industry. In asserting his individuality, Joeboy emphasizes that he is running his own race and is unswayed by external expectations.

Born Joseph Akinwale, Joeboy’s journey to stardom began in 2017 when he caught the attention of Mr Eazi, founder of emPawa Africa, with a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You.” Since then, he has risen to prominence with hit singles like “Baby,” “Beginning,” and “Don’t Call Me Back (feat. Mayorkun).” Joeboy has become a global export, amassing over 2 billion streams and earning the title of the 2nd African artist to surpass 100 million streams on Boomplay.

At the age of 26, Joeboy has spent five years at the forefront of the African music scene, earning the moniker “Young Legend.” As he prepares to release “Osadebe” and embark on a new chapter with Warner Music Africa, Joeboy’s message is clear: success is best achieved on one’s own terms, staying true to oneself and focusing on personal growth.

“The fact is, you can do things on your own terms and stay in your lane and achieve the same, if not better, results than other people living loudly. I am my biggest competition, I really don’t care what others are doing. The only person that I’m focused on is me,” says Joeboy.

“Osadebe” is poised to be a game-changer in Joeboy’s illustrious career, and fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the release that will undoubtedly solidify his status as a trailblazer in the African music landscape.
