Tshepo Gumede joins Cape Town Spurs

Cape Town Spurs are pulling out all the stops to stay off relegation, and they’ve added former Pirates defender Tshepo Gumede to their ranks in a bid to bolster their squad.

Gumede, a seasoned 32-year-old player, recently became a free agent after parting ways with Maritzburg United in January amid reports of contract disputes.

After showcasing his skills during training sessions last week, Gumede caught the eye of coach Ernst Middendorp, leading to his official signing with Spurs announced on Wednesday.

“Former Maritzburg United defender, Tshepo Gumede, joins the Urban Warriors! Welcome Tshepo!” announced the club.

With injuries plaguing their central defense, the timely addition of Gumede is seen as a boost for Spurs.

Fans can expect to see him make his debut for the team in their upcoming match against TS Galaxy at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday at 15:30.
