Renowned South African clothing brand, Boys of Soweto, recently showcased its unique style at Moscow Fashion Week in Russia, representing Mzansi alongside DOPE Store.
Bobo Vusumuzi Ndima, also known as Bob The Stylist and founder of Boys of Soweto, spoke about the exciting opportunity. “Showcasing this line felt great because we weren’t just doing that, we were showing the craftsmanship that we have in Joburg. All my garments are made locally. The eye for style and taste, that’s what I was transporting. I was putting our name out there and putting Soweto out there. I’m a Sowetan. I grew up in almost every part of Soweto. It’s my home,” he said.
Despite having only a month to prepare, Bob The Stylist managed to create 20 stunning looks for the event. This was a significant moment for the brand, marking its first international showcase.
“I’ve had opportunities to fly to eastern Europe as a consultant for brands. It was through that, that I could travel to Slovakia, Hungary and many other places. However, this was my first time showcasing my brand,” he shared.
Looking ahead, Boys of Soweto plans to introduce new styles and experiment with fabrics. “There will be a couple of new drops. I’m going to make ready-made suits and we’ll experiment as well. We have cool garments and we have shirts and leather jackets. That’s quite exciting for me,” Bob The Stylist added.
Boys of Soweto’s success at Moscow Fashion Week is not just a milestone for the brand, but also a testament to Bob The Stylist’s dedication and talent in the fashion industry.
