Big Brother Mzansi’s explosive season, themed “S’ya Mosha” (loosely translated as “messing it up”), has concluded with McJunior emerging as the winner after a rollercoaster ride of drama and challenges.
The season truly embodied its theme, with standout moments like contestants being removed for inappropriate comments, intense beef steak confrontations, and even a 14-hour transmission outage. “This season has been one of the most impactful yet, reflecting the sensitivities and consciousness of society,” said Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at MultiChoice.
In a nail-biting finale, McJunior edged out Makhekhe by a mere 0.07% to clinch the S’ya Mosha title and the R2 million grand prize. Alongside the cash prize, McJunior also won additional cheques for excelling in the Friday night arena games and tasks. Adonisi congratulated McJunior and shared hope for the opportunities this win would bring to him and the other housemates.
During the finale, Biggie celebrated Makhekhe and McJunior, highlighting their gameplay and contributions to the house, and inducted them into the Top 2 Hall of Fame.
The season was not without its challenges, facing a major setback when the show was affected by Eskom’s load shedding in February, leading to a 14-hour broadcast blackout.
Earlier in the season, the show faced controversy when contestants Bravo B and Tshepo ‘Makhekhe’ Tau were heard plotting to take advantage of drunken female contestants. Bravo B was removed from the show, while Makhekhe received reprimand and coaching on respectful behaviour.
The show continued its stance against inappropriate behaviour when contestant Eulanda ‘Yolanda’ Monyai was expelled for making disturbing comments related to sexual violence towards fellow housemate Sabelo “Papa Ghost” Ncube.
As the curtains close on this season of Big Brother Mzansi, fans are left reflecting on the impactful moments and eagerly anticipating what the next season will bring.
