Popular South African DJ Shimza recently had a bit of a scare while flying back to Mzansi from Paris. The flight, which had departed from Charles de Gaulle airport, encountered an engine problem just 1 hour and 30 minutes into the journey, forcing it to turn back to Paris.
Despite the unexpected situation, Shimza remained calm and collected throughout the ordeal. “I’m really not scared of such things. I believe in technology and the fact that if God decides, there’s nothing I can do. I was not panicking at all,” he said.
Shimza, who is gearing up for his highly anticipated gig, Kunye, this weekend, shared that although the experience was nerve-wracking, his main concern was not to miss his own event. “It was chaotic inside the aircraft, but my concern was the people who bought tickets and booked their tables. Other than that, I knew there was nothing I could do,” he said.
Shimza is one of South Africa’s most popular DJs, known for his unique blend of house and techno music. He has been making waves in the music industry for years and has performed at some of the biggest festivals and clubs around the world.
The DJ is also the founder of KUNYE, a non-profit organization that aims to empower young people and upcoming producers, introducing South African talent to new audiences worldwide in a celebration of culture. “Kunye has grown so well and is going to other provinces. I’m excited to be going to KZN,” he said.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Shimza remains positive and focused on his mission to empower young people in South Africa.
