In an era where anyone can start a podcast, only a few manage to deliver content that is both informative and fun. Among the world of podcasts vying for attention, there are a select few that truly stand out. One such podcast is ‘The Shady PHodcast’, hosted by Warrick ‘Warras The Shady Lurker’ Stock and Phind’Gcobe ‘DJ PH’ Madubela.
With over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry, Warras and PH bring a wealth of knowledge to their discussions on pop culture and current affairs. Their 15-year friendship forms the foundation of their dynamic, making their collaboration on the podcast a natural fit.
Podcasts have seen tremendous growth over the past decade, with many creators finding success by building dedicated communities. For Warras and PH, the decision to start a podcast was driven by their shared background in broadcasting and their diverse opinions on various topics.
“The podcast made sense to us when we spoke about it; we have a common interest in terms of broadcast history and different opinions when it comes to certain topics,” PH explained.
Warras added that while podcasting might not reinvent the wheel, success lies in delivering content that is better in approach. “What you are talking about needs to be informative, entertaining, and credible if you plan on standing out,” he said.
Since its launch in March on The Real Network (formerly CliffCentral), ‘The Shady PHodcast’ has made significant strides. Notable guests have included Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, whose episode garnered over 100,000 views, Chris Pappas, mayor of the uMngeni Local Municipality, and amapiano producer and DJ Josiah De Disciple.
